Little Brett said this to me right after brushing his teeth tonight: "I wish the whole world was cotton candy...but not the house...or the stuff in it...or the furniture. Just the plants. And it has to be blue cotton candy."
I hate NPR pledge drive time, but Alec Baldwin's hilarious spots are making it almost tolerable.
Joe is in a "big boy bed"! I can't wait to put the crib out for bulk pickup. Not feeling nostalgic about it at all--very unlike me.
I'm with the boys waiting for haircuts. Getting antsy, so we start looking at Instyle magazine ads. I like to ask what he thinks they're trying to sell. Anyway, we turn to a page with a sleek car and I ask "what do you think they're selling here?" He says (no lie) "Viagra?" We've been watching a lot of sports lately...
Joe cracks me up. We just pulled up to Brett's school 5 minutes early. He starts yelling "Brett! Brett!" Then "Open the door, Mrs. Ott!!"
Happy Birthday to my amazing husband! We have now hit the point where I have been in your life for more birthdays than not. I am so lucky to have found you (or to have been found by you) :-).
I'm always fascinated by people who put bumper stickers on their cars. I was just behind someone on I-95 with 2 of them: "I love my bad ass attitude" and "Take revenge...Sh*t on a pigeon." What's the motivation there?
Thanks for all the birthday wishes! It's always about the kids lately, but today I felt really special myself. And I'm enjoying the guilty pleasure of the new Kitty Kelley Oprah bio on my new Kindle from my sweet husband :-).

Jalapeno Baked Brie

This is a delicious and easy appetizer to make. The green Tabasco is really mild, more flavorful than spicy. I serve it with a sliced baguette. Yummy!

I love this little restaurant. It's the kind of place I would love to own and run. It's a casual German-American breakfast and lunch place. There are maybe 10-12 tables inside this small restaurant, but it's worth the wait that's inevitable on... more
